FY Institute of Technology (Singapore) or FYIT (Singapore) was established by in 2004 to serve the needs of both local and foreign students seeking to upgrade themselves by equipping them with the necessary academic, vocational and life skills to increase their employability and career advancement prospects.
It was set up as a branch of an overseas college with over 10,000 students offering a range of programmes from business to technical and vocational.
FYIT (Singapore) offers a more focussed range of programmes at higher diploma and degree levels. It also offers language courses. The degree programmes are offered in collaboration with established UK universities whose lecturers fly into Singapore every quarter to meet with students and to ensure standards are maintained. The university also decides who is qualified to teach their programme, decides on assessments and reviews all assessments.
As an added service to student of the institute, the institute provides employment counselling and placement services to interested students.
FYIT Singapore is located, in heart of Singapore’s Financial District along Shenton Way, within the former Singapore Polytechnic Building. It is conveniently located with bus stop next to it and Tanjong Pagar MRT station within 10 minutes walk. Being in the financial district there are a host of amenities within walking distance for the students from food outlets to stores and touristy sites.
This city campus set up for the convenience of students, occupies part the 2nd Floor of Podium B, Bestway Building (fmr Singapore Polytechnic Bldg) with 7 spacious classrooms and wireless broadband access throughout. In addition, it has access to additional classrooms and an auditorium.
The teaching staff are selected based on their academic qualifications, work and teaching experience so that they will be able to offer practical insights to the academic courses. Each staff has a minimum of over ten years teaching experience.
FYIT focuses on smaller enrolments to ensure more effective teaching and learning.
SIT International Hostel was set up in 2007 to offer facilities for student stay and recreation.
FYIT Singapore seeks to combine the best of both the East and the West. By offering Western programmes in Singapore we hope to reduce the financial burden on students.
